Excavation No.1 is a collaboration with Valdemar Lindekrantz. This video is the first part in a trilogy that explores the idea of family, nature and animal in American culture.
Excavation No.1 is based on a recorded and later transcribed meeting between the members of Peoples Temple and their leader Jim Jones. In Excavation No.1 we have reenacted this meeting but also added our own confessions to this new recording. The absence of sound together with the anonymous subtitles makes it impossible to link a statement to an individual. This impossibility allows us to integrate ourselves and our stories seamlessly into the history of Peoples Temple.
